VFW Post 2182 & Ladies Aux

VFW Post 2182 Farmington NM and the Ladies Aux will have a booth at this years fair. We are currently needing volunteers to man the booth.  Sign up sheets are at the Bingo hall for all interested persons. 

The Memorial Day ceremonies at Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, Greenlawn and Memory Gardens were attended by many people today.  Thank you to all who participated in the ceremonies.  Even with the problems we had the ceremonies paid respect to all fallen veterans. 

VFWpost 2182 will be having a special meeting on Sat May 26 at 0900.  All memebers are encouraged to attend.

The Sate convention will be in Abq from June 1-3.  All memebrs are invited to attend.  More information is available at www.vfwnm.org. 

In April both the Ladies and Comrades had elections for officers for the upcoming year.  Congrats to all new officers.  Good job to all outgoing officers.  The incoming oficers were swore in after the awards banquet on April 28.  They will assume their posts after the State Convention June1-3.  Again good job outgoing officers and good luck all incoming officers.

VFW post 2182 had our winner advance to State in the Patriot's Pen, where they came in 4th.  We did not have a VOD entry.  The State of NM winner for Patriot's Pen came in 27th in the Nation. NM's VOD winner came in 31st in the Nation.  That is a very good showing for NM.  I hope next year VFW post 2182 can get more Patriot's Pen entries, and some VOD entries.  It would also be great to get some Teacher nominations.  Please keep these ideas in mind for the next 9 months.

Please come to the monthly meeting on Sat March 10 at 1000.  We will open up for nominations for nextyears officers and have a briefing on Mid-Winter from last month. 

Because of the early National Convention and State Canvention this year, VFWpost2182 will need to open nominations for officers in March.  We will be electing officers in May.  If you would like to run for office make sure you are present for the meeting on March 10 at 1000.  Please make every effort to attend the meetings in March and April so we can fill all officer positions.  Good luck to all who will participate.

On Thursday Feb 16th, Mesa Alta in Bloomfield held their red for heart events.  Some of the participants came and received some Buddy Poppies and talked about VFW programs.  It was a good time for all involved.

Mid-Winter conferance was held this past weekend.  VFW post 2182 Ladies Aux did very well at Mid-Winter.  They walked away with a certificate for both making 100% membership and donation to National Home for Childeren before Mid-Winter.  Vickie Westbrook also received her pin for membership.  When you see any of the ladies make sure you congratulate them fo ra job well done.   It was also passed that the Department Conference in June will be at the Sheraton Uptown also.  And lastly the Western Conference will be help in November in Abq at the Mariott.
