VFW Post 2182 & Ladies Aux

Our February meeting was Saturday.  We had 15 members present including new member Jacob Beckham.  We voted in Derek Booker as a new member.  We started a jar for repair of the parking lot.  We have State mid-Winter convention in Abq on Fri and Sat.  Our next meeting will take place on March 10 at 1000.  If you have anything to bring up or talk about you are encouraged to bring it up then.  We look forward to having more members attending and participating in the post.

VFW post 2182 will be having a Easter party on Mar 31 at 1PM.  All familes with kids are invited.

Our awards banquet will be held on Sat April 28 at 1PM.  Invitations to all who participated in the Voice of Democracy, Patriot's Pen, Patriotic Art and their teachers will be sent out soon.  All members of VFW post 2182 and the Ladies Aux are encouraged to attend.  Please let either Mark Decker, Jerry Smalley, Jim Clark, or Barb Chokie know as soon as possible so food can be ordered. 

We had the district meeting after our post meeting.  Thank you to all of the posts that came to the meeting for both the comrades and the ladies.  We had both State Commander Abe Saiz and State Sr Vice Vernon Luce there.  Thank you to all the people that made food for the lunch we had before the meeting.

We had our January post meeting on Jan 14.  We elected a new trustee in Eugene Sandoval.  Thank you Gene for stepping up.  We had 23 members present. That is many more then we usually have. Thank you all for coming. We welcome all members to attend the meetings to have you say in how the post is run.

It was passed that we will having a kids Easter party in the spring.  More word to follow.

The Christmas Party was a great success today.  We had 45 people attend, 17 of which were kids.  Ornaments and snowflakes were decorated and taken home by all.  Cupcakes were decorated and eaten on the spot.  Goody bags were handed out by Santa.  15 cakes were given out on the cakewalk.  All had a greta time.  Thanks to everyone who set-up, donated cakes, and tore down.  We had 10 members present.

We had a very good day on Saturday fro Buddy Poppies.  On Sunday the weather held us down a little.  A big thank you to all who participated and helped make this a wonderful weekend.

We had 4 judges judge the 700+ essay contest this year. There were some really good papers.  VFW 2182 will send 3 eessays to district. The winners were: Autumn Archelta, from Mesa View; Rachel Boucher, from Mesa Alta; Pablo Virmontes, from Mesa View.  Our 4th place winner was Alex Gusdort and 5th went to Grace Sartin both from Mesa View.  They will all receive awards at the year end banquet in April.  Good luck to the top three at district next week.
